In 1938, Souke Hirano was born in Yokohama, Japan. In 1962, he traveled with Wado-Ryu Founder
Hironori Otsuka to Hawaii to demonstrate Wado-Ryu Karate. Souke
remained behind and established JIKC in Honolulu. JIKC teaches Hewado Ryu, a harmonious blend of the techniques of Wado-Ryu Karate,
the breathing techniques of Gojo-Ryu Karate, and the scientific
teaching methods of Shotokan Karate. At the time of his death in 2009, Souke held the ranks
of 9th Degree Black Belt in Karate, 2nd Degree in
Judo, and 1st Degree in Iaido. During his life, Souke was a mentor to thousands of karate students around the world.
